ENVIROMENT
Our commitment to the environment
As part of our awareness of the environmental impact across our value chain and the urgent need to take action, we focus on measuring our performance and taking steps to minimise our impact, contributing to the global objectives for the planet.
Proof of this is the ISO 14001 environmental certification we have had at the Leioa plant (Vizcaya, Spain) since 2019 and which has been extended to the Derio plant (Vizcaya, Spain). The environmental management programme allows us to implement improvements year after year as a result of continuous improvement.

What we do to reduce it
Guarantee of renewable origin

Guarantee of renewable origin

Reduction of Scope 2 by 62% thanks, for the most part, to the fact that 100% of the electricity consumed in Spain and Guatemala has a guarantee of origin certificate.
Renewable energy

Renewable energy

52% of the energy consumed in the Group is of renewable origin.
Reduction plan

Reduction plan

Study and definition of potential reduction measures to be included in the future corporate plan.
LEED Gold Certification

LEED Gold Certification

The new Derio plant represents an increase in the carbon footprint due to its size. However, it is committed to implementing high standards of energy efficiency and emissions reduction.
Product Footprint

Product Footprint

All references marketed by Ingaso have their carbon footprint calculated.
What are we working to improve?
  • We are actively implementing strategies to reduce emissions and identify new ways to minimise our impact on climate change.
  • We carried out a comprehensive calculation of the main sources of Scope 3 emissions following an initial estimate.
  • We made progress in assessing the risks and opportunities of climate change affecting the Group.
  • We developed the Group’s future greenhouse gas emission reduction plan.
Water use
Consumed Water
167,623 m3
What are we doing to reduce it? 2024 targets achieved
  • 3% reduction in the water consumption factor/production factor at the Leioa plant (Vizcaya, Spain).
  • 2% reduction in the water discharge factor/production factor at the Leioa plant (Vizcaya, Spain).
What are we working to improve?
  • We monitor the water consumption of the plants by identifying the most water-intensive processes.
  • We reuse reject water at the Guatemala plant.
  • We optimise the number and time of washes by minimising the volume of water rejection.
Waste management and the circular economy
Hazardous waste
38% VS 44% in 2023
Recovered waste
75% VS 80% in 2023
Re-use

Re-use

We reintroduce rejected, non-conforming or surplus raw materials into the Animal Nutrition production process.
Eco-design

Eco-design

We removed the package leaflet on a number of CAPS products (cosmetics, food and medical devices) without affecting the quality of the information.
Sustainable sourcing

Sustainable sourcing

We prioritise the use of FSC-certified cardboard boxes for CAPS products (cosmetics, food and medical devices).
Extended Responsibility

Extended Responsibility

Compliance with the responsibility linked to the packaging we place on the market in Spain, Portugal and Chile through different collective systems of extended producer responsibility.
What are we working to improve?
  • Characterisation of domestic, commercial and industrial packaging that we place on the Spanish market, in order to define areas for improvement focused on circularity.
  • Assessment and identification of feasible eco-design improvements in packaging for cosmetics, food, medical devices and marketing materials.
  • Collaboration with business schools and innovation organisations to promote eco-design in packaging.
