Sustainability Strategy

Focused on a Sustainable Future

Continuing with the previous ESG Strategy and in line with the new Strategic Plan, the Board of Directors has approved the Sustainability Strategy 2025–2030, entitled ‘Focused on a Sustainable Future’. This framework sets out the roadmap that will enable the Group to respond to stakeholder trends and concerns, as well as aligning with the Group’s new purpose and values.

It contains 36 measures distributed across one cross-cutting pillar and five main pillars:

  • People.
  • Patients.
  • Environment.
  • Conduct.
  • Partnership.

FUTURE: Our production plant is a benchmark in sustainable building

The new pharmaceutical production plant in Derio (Bizkaia) has LEED GOLD “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” certification.

What will be our main pharmaceutical plant has become a benchmark in terms of energy efficiency and carbon emissions reduction, creating a healthier and safer place for its occupants.

Notable aspects of the sustainability measures considered in the design are:

  • Installation of renewable energy generation systems (photovoltaic panels).
  • Installation of green roofs.
  • High performance hot water generation systems (heat pumps).
  • Low consumption lighting systems (LED lights) with automatic operation management.
  • Insulation systems better than required by regulations to minimise losses.
